Barnsbury Complex, Islington N1
04 December 2008
On 3 December 2008, Mount Anvil completed the purchase of the land at the Barnsbury Complex in Islington. The development site is currently occupied by four substantial Victorian buildings, three of which will be retained and converted into apartments and penthouses, along with new build blocks of apartments and houses which range in height from two to five storeys.
The scheme has a detailed planning consent for the partial demolition, conversion and new build development of 141 homes, 104 of which will be for private sale including rather unusually nine town houses, a 200m² community facility and 60 secure private parking spaces. The Barnsbury Complex is in one of Islington’s most affluent and established residential areas. Being one of the few remaining underdeveloped land holdings in the neighbourhood, it is locally recognised as being one of the finest development opportunities in the Borough. The first homes will be ready for occupation towards the end of 2009. We have been on site for the past month under licence from the previous owner which gives a good start to the construction programme which is due to complete in late 2010.
