Dollar Bay Wins Prestigious Pride in the Job Award

“A wonderful moment for the whole team” was the reaction of Mount Anvil site manager Michael Rolfe on hearing of his site’s NHBC Pride in the Job award at the prestigious Dollar Bay residential development in London’s Canary Wharf. Read more below.

Dollar Bay is a sleek, spectacular 31 storey luxury residential tower development of 115 studio, one, two and three bedroom apartments and penthouses, created in the second joint venture scheme from Citystyle Homes and Mount Anvil.

Michael Rolfe said: “We put a lot of effort into winning the award and the whole team worked really well together. Good communication and teamwork with a high level of respect for one another from the top down and the bottom up were high on the agenda”. He added: “Site safety, of course, was also paramount - in fact we have also achieved a top five-star rating in the British Safety Council’s Five Star Occupational Health and Safety Audit”.

Michael, who started his career as a civil engineer before moving into site management over 20 years ago, concluded: “The NHBC award has provided a real boost for the site and all the contractors are very happy - which is important because the award certainly couldn’t have been won without them”. The site team has also received congratulatory emails from management and a celebratory barbecue is planned for all on site at Dollar Bay.

Unhindered by neighbouring buildings, Dollar Bay's prime location at the foot of the South Dock makes for unrivalled panoramic views.

One of the most sought-after new residential builds in the London, the development was designed by international award-winning SimpsonHaugh & Partners (formerly Ian Simpson Architects) and features a stunning glass façade rising from the water’s edge. The development’s innovative use of glass – the same as is used in The Shard – has created a distinctive crystal effect that reflects the surrounding sky and water, substantiating Dollar Bay’s claim to being the most innovative addition yet to the Docklands skyline.

Elegant, modern and uncomplicated, each apartment at Dollar Bay boasts its own winter garden and stylish high contrast interiors designed to create an easy flow of light throughout. The winter gardens are enclosed behind operable louvered glass and can be accessed from both the living room and bedroom of each apartment.

The development also features a beautiful communal garden for residents. Designed by landscape architects Spacehub in response to the waterfront setting, the garden’s considered planting and feature lighting creates a calm oasis in which to relax and unwind.

Other communal facilities include a residents’ lounge area and a gym boasting views over the dock and a range of cardiovascular and free weight equipment.
