Mount Anvil Sponsors Spring Forest Installation

Renowned London based multi-disciplinary practice Draisci Studio has designed the vibrant “Spring Forest” pop-up installation for Clerkenwell Design Week 2012

Renowned London based multi-disciplinary practice Draisci Studio has designed the vibrant “Spring Forest” pop-up installation for Clerkenwell Design Week 2012, in collaboration with the British rainwear specialist Fulton Umbrellas, and sponsored by leading property developer Mount Anvil.

Symbolising urban transformation and the awakening of spring, the surreal red and pink forest sees Fulton’s beautiful umbrellas lifted by a red scaffolding plinth – almost like giant poppies – to mark a temporary spot in St James’ Church Garden in Clerkenwell, London.

With a unique, warm light filtering through the unusual canopy, visitors will be invited into the ‘Spring Forest’, to enjoy an energising atmosphere and the opportunity to participate in an informal story-telling program.

In line with Draisci Studio ethos in designing physical environments that can provide a stimulating background to human life, the installation aims to be a celebration of the physical experience of our senses.

Francesco Draisci comments: “The ambition is to create a glamorous temporary environment that can truly disappear after the festival without leaving any waste behind but only good memories. It will be a public urban oasis for children and adults to gather around and within.”

Nigel Fulton comments; “This beautiful installation highlights the unique versatility of the umbrella, both for style and essential rainwear protection. Francesco Draisci’s creation is a must-see, as is our extensive SS12 rainwear collection.”

Brian De’ath, sales director at Mount Anvil, said: “As a design-led developer which pays particular attention to the architecture of our properties, we were keen to support Clerkenwell Design week. Our own creative ethos sits at the heart of everything that we do and so we felt that the sponsorship of Spring Forest, which will create a focal point for the local community and visitors during Clerkenwell Design Week, was very apt.”

Draisci Studio offers a versatile approach to specific briefs supported by a diverse range of skills and expertise.

The practice is open to collaboration and the resourceful cross-fertilisation of ideas coming from different fields.

The studio work has won several design and architecture awards and it has created installations and exhibitions for important cultural institutions like the V&A, the Garage in Moscow and the Venice Biennale.
